My name is Jennelle Zajac – I’m running for a seat on Parowan’s City Council. I’ve lived in Parowan full-time since 2015 and was an every-weekend resident of my home here since 2007. I lived and worked in Las Vegas and fell in love with this area while spending summers with my family at Duck Creek. I worked at the Nevada Test Site for 30 years as a secretary, technical writer, project manager, quality assurance analyst and corporate trainer. I also worked at Nevada Power Company as a generation analyst for seven years. I have a Master’s Degree in business and love using my skills to research and analyze processes and systems. My husband and I retired and have found peace and friendship here and have made Parowan our forever home. If elected, I will work to communicate regularly with residents to ensure their voices are heard and help to manage growth while keeping Parowan’s small-town character. I’m a hard worker and I’ll do my part to research issues and make informed decisions for the residents of Parowan!
I’m a fourth generation native Hawaiian. My great grandfather, a true pioneer, was born in Hawaii after his parents emigrated there from Portugal. When he was in 8th grade, his family returned to Portugal. He loved Hawaii so much that he found work on a returning ship and went back to Hawaii on his own (as an 8th grader!). He eventually became a Honolulu police officer. The day Pearl Harbor was bombed, he moved the family to a ranch in the mountains for the duration of the war.
I was born in Hawaii, lived in San Diego CA until I was twelve, and moved to Pahrump Nevada to finish growing up. I attended the University of Nevada-Reno and moved to Las Vegas in 1983. I started raising a family there and stayed until 2015 when my husband Larry and I retired to live in Parowan. Together we have 5 children and 12 grandchildren, with another grandson coming on September 19 and a great-grandson coming in late October.
